Serve on a Local Board or Commission

A great way to learn about local services, meet interesting people, and make a difference in your community is to serve on a city or county board, committee, or commission. These advisory bodies are made up of residents who provide input to local elected officials and government staff on a variety of issues. Even if you don't become a member, meetings are open to the public.
